French Summer Mini Camp
Our French Summer Mini-Camp for children ages 6 months to 4 years old will delight young French learners. Children will be in two groups and both summer Mini-Camps are child and caregiver participation and attendance. No French knowledge is expected of caregivers, but we hope you come in with an open mind and heart to be part of the experience and fun!
Monday – Friday 9:30 – 10:15 July 5th – July 28th
This itty-bitty summer camp is for our youngest children and uses song, music, and images to introduce French and the classroom environment in a nurturing way.
Monday – Friday 10:30 – 12:00 July 5th – July 28th
This summer camp is also for young children and while it is filled with songs and movement games it also incorporates visual arts and begins to gently explore preschool themes such as colors, shapes, sizes, animals…
Monday – Friday 9:30-12:00 or 9:30 – 4:00 July 5th – July 28th
Whether your child is in a Dual-Language French Program, is a native French speaker, or is curious about the French language and would like to start learning – our teachers will find a place of fun and joy in the classroom setting. Learn through play-based engagement with songs, movement games, and thoughtful and complex art projects that are fueled by the children’s individual interests and preferences.
Children may be seen building a circus out of blocks, using papier-mâché to make a planet of their own, learning stop-motion animation, creating their own mask and embodying a character, exploring how water moves in a class-made river, and creating a 3D art piece about water pollution.
The French language is taught naturally in this all-immersive French environment and through the various themes and projects; however, direct French instruction happens through visual language games and projects that emphasize specific French vocabulary and grammar structures.
Children of all levels and French-speaking backgrounds are encouraged to speak French naturally while engaged in captivating workshops designed to both educate and entertain. Our integrated approach specifically engages the child in lively and creative activities to enhance developmentally appropriate skills in a foreign language. We believe in a supportive and encouraging learning environment where children feel a part of our learning community and are prepared to take risks in a safe-space.
The daily schedule therefore includes a balance of stimulating and relaxing developmentally appropriate activities. Outdoor activities will take place in the neighborhood parks and playgrounds. We have an option for a half-day program from 9:30AM – 12PM and a full-day program from 9:30AM – 4PM. The extended day is ideal for children looking for increased French exposure as there is more small group language and project-based work in the afternoon. For the extended day program children eat a home brought lunch and spend time outside at the park.
Snacks are provided for children in both programs and include foods such as organic fruits and vegetables, hummus and crackers.
